1. Masjid al-Haram

This world famous mosque is situated in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It mainly surrounds the holiest place, Kaaba. Kaaba is the first house which was establish for the people on the Earth, in which to worship God as per the belief of Islam. It mainly covers an area of about 99.0 acres (400,800 square meters) and can also embrace approximately 4 million worshipers.

2. Al-Masjid al-Nabawi

Al-Masjid al-Nabawi is also called as the “Mosque of the Prophet” and is located in the city of Medina. After Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, this is second holiest site in Islam. It is amongst the largest mosques in the world and has an area of 400,500 m2.

3. Imam Reza Shrine

Imam Reza Shrine is a beautiful mosque located in Mashhad, Iran. In this mosque there is a mausoleum of ImÄm Ridha, which is the 8th Imam of Twelver Shi’ites. Moreover, you must visit this Imam Reza Shrine and it has a capacity of total 5, 00,000 worshipers.

4. Istiqlal Mosque

Istiqlal Mosque is situated in Jakarta, Indonesia and is considered as the largest mosque in Southeast Asia because it has the capacity to cover about 2, 00,000 worshipers. This mosque was mainly built for commemorating Indonesian independence and covered area of about 95,000 square meters.

5. Sheikh Zayed Mosque

Sheikh Zayed Mosque is situated in Abu Dhabi and is the biggest mosque in the United Arab Emirates. It was opened in month of Ramadan in 2007 and is topped with the 82 white domes. It is spread in the area of about 412, 22 m2 and has a capacity of 40,000 worshipers.


6. The Hassan II Mosque

This mosque was opened in 1993 and is located in Casablanca, Morocco. It has a tall minaret with a height of 689ft. This mosque was designed by the French architect  Michel Pinseau and has a capacity of about 250,000 worshipers. Additionally, this mosque stands on an outcrop looking out to the Atlantic Ocean, and is visible by a gigantic glass floor.

7. Jama Masjid

This is the largest mosque in India and was built by Shah Jahan in the year 1956. This famous mosque has a capacity of 25,000 worshipers and is located in Old Delhi. It is also amongst the popular tourist destination in Delhi and is also famous as “Masjid e Jahan Numa”.


8. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

Located in the capital of Oman, Muscut Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and was opened for the public in the year 2001. It was constructed using 3,00,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone and has a capacity to hold about 20,000 worshippers. Furthermore, it has five minarets and is the largest mosque in Oman.

9. Masjid Negara

Masjid Negara is located in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. It is spread in about 13 acres (53,000 m2) of area and has a very beautiful architecture. This mosque has a capacity to hold 15,000 worshippers and has a beautiful 16-pointed star concrete main roof.


10. Sultan Ahmed Mosque

Sultan Ahmed Mosque is located in Istanbul which is the capital of Turkey. It is constructed using blue tiles and that’s why also known as the Blue Mosque. Sultan Ahmed Mosque is also a famous tourist attraction in Istanbul and has beautiful 6 minarets.
