Pyramids of Egypt are well known worldwide and are the most mysterious wonders of the world. When someone talks about Egypt, the first thing that comes to our mind are the huge pyramids. # The very old pyramid in Egypt was constructed around 2630 BC for the pharaoh Djoser. It is situated at the Saqqara and about 4600 years old.

# The pyramids of Egypt are preserved so well because in their construction the exclusive mortar was used. Moreover, it is stronger as compare to the real stone.

# All know that there is a scorching heat in the Egypt, but in spite of that the temperature inside pyramids is about 20 degree Celsius (60 Fahrenheit) and remains constant.

# Three Pyramids that are pyramid of Khafre, the pyramid of Menkaure and the Great pyramid of Khufu are specifically allied with the Constellation of Orion.

# The Great Pyramid of Giza is largest as well as oldest Pyramid in Egypt. These were stiffed on a rocky plateau in northern Egypt on the west bank of the Nile and were connected.
# In the writings of Great Pyramid of Giza, the Ancient Greeks used the name of Khufu in their language – Cheops. This is the reason behind that why the Great Pyramid of Giza are also named as the Pyramid of Cheops.

# The Great Pyramid of Giza is predictable to consist of 2,300,000 stone blocks that weigh up between 2 to 30 tons along with some blocks which weigh about 50 tons.

# With the layer in place, the Great Pyramid can be seen from the mountains in Israel and most likely the moon also.

# All the pyramids which are constructed in the Ancient Egypt are situated on the Nile River. In west direction the sunsets and west direction is linked with the path of the kingdom of the dead.



# The foundation stone of the pyramid have ball as well as socket construction which are able to deal with earthquakes and heat expansion.

# The curvature intended into the faces of the pyramid precisely matches with the radius of the earth.

# Before 1889, when Eiffel Tower was not built in Paris the Great Pyramid was the tallest construction in the whole world, in spite of being almost 4500 years old!

# Though various people connect pyramids with hieroglyphics, but there have been no writing (hieroglyphics) found in the Great Pyramid of Giza.

# The Great Pyramid of Giza is amongst the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World as well as the last one still in subsistence.

# The Great Pyramid is said to have a rotating door, which although weighing up to 20 tons can be with no trouble pushed open from the inside but was too swill out to notice from the exterior.

# The pyramids were constructed on the periphery of the dry desert; because the dry conditions helped in protecting the pyramids as well as their contents.

# Many people believed that the Pyramids were built by the slaves but it is not true at all. Historians found out that these were built by paid skilled artisans.

  1. I always found the pyramids fascinating and i wished we had gone to Egypt while we were in the ME - but it was during Arab Spring - so gave it a miss. Maybe one day!
